London with children

Why not try these suggestion of a few things to do?
A priority for any visit is to witness the Changing of the Guard at the historic Buckingham Palace . This 40 minute ceremony is a practice which has occurred since 1660.

If you want a different view of London then take a flight on the London Eye , an impressive 456 feet high. A 30 minute journey above the landmarks of London is a must for all.

After seeing everything clearly from the air take the family to the beautiful Westminster Abbey , point out the famous monarchs, poets and statesmen buried inside, from Charles Darwin to Lawrence Oliver and almost every royal for some 500 years.
Take a short stroll and adjust your eyes and necks to look up 316 feet in the air at the world famous Big Ben . Since 1858 the 13-ton bell has reverberated hourly. Cast your eyes down and enjoy the breathtaking views of the adjoining Houses of Parliament. Take a tour and don't forget to rub Churchill's toe for gook luck as you pass his statue when you enter the House of Commons.
Continue your historic journey to the Tower of London. At over 900 hundred years old the tower has seen many a beheading. See the famous White and Bloody Towers, the priceless Crown Jewels and the ravens as you take a trip with the Beefeater who will regale you with eerie stories of torture and treachery.

If the children are exhausted by all this new found knowledge a little light relief can be found in Trafalgar Square . A 170 foot tall column, topped by an imposing statue of Lord Nelson, but it's the pigeons that your children will enjoy. If they dare hold out their hands with food, and see what happens.
Kids love water, so what better way is there to explore the Thames than with a River Cruise . Head down the river towards Greenwich and see the Cutty Sark or venture further afield to Kew Gardens, Richmond or Hampton Court.

Many of London's museums and galleries now offer an exciting range of activities for children from guided tours to hands-on activities with the exhibits. The children will enjoy themselves so much that learning may not seem such a chore!
